Exploring the Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Rural English FAL Teachers’ Lesson Planning

The Coronavirus (COVID-19) has disrupted the process of teaching and learning in various ways. In particular, lesson planning rural English first additional language (FAL) classrooms been disrupted. As a result, there is need to explore impact COVID-19 pandemic on FAL teachers’ planning. To achieve this aim, these questions remain central study: How does COVID- 19 disrupt typical plans teachers context? do respond challenges phased- rotational approaches during pandemic? study follows qualitative research design uses Document Analysis generate data from eleven participants whose responses are analyzed thematically. findings reveal that face when lessons amid pandemic. These include: struggle with committing plan, inadequate coverage content, catering for learners’ educational needs, as well learner-absenteeism re-teaching. paper recommends following strategies circumvent challenges. They incorporating resources integrating active activities tailoring meet needs.
